SEO means search engine optimisation. Now, what is search engine optimisation? Search engine optimisation is a strategy or a technique to assist you in getting more visitors to your website so that you can get a high ranking in the search engines. SEO can also come under SEM, which is search engine marketing.
What are search engines? Search engines are Google, Bing, Yahoo, Microsoft edge etc.
Now that we’ve covered what SEO is let’s talk about what it involves. SEO involves being intentional through tracking, keywords research, and how much traffic you got coming to your website through unpaid advertising.
SEO involves consistency if you really want to see results over a reasonable amount of time. Once you have a website or a blog running, it is like a shop in the middle of nowhere. No one knows it exists until you start making it visible and get eyes on it.
Google favours websites that provide quality and real value to users. SEO helps you to be able to convert the traffic that comes to your website into sales.
Search engines scan your website and see what topics you have in there so that they can make you searchable for users to find you. This process is called crawling. Most businesses want to rank on the first page of search engines.
The common term that you will hear come up when discussing SEO is SERP. SERP means search engine results page. The higher your ranking, the higher the chances of you getting discovered by relevant customers.
Google has an algorithm which you can influence. If you’re providing content with keywords and have a mobile responsive site, it can either work to your favour or not. Providing quality content not stuffed with many keywords, sounding as natural and helpful as possible is best practice. If you’re going to be a blogger and you’re in it for the long-term leading with value will not let you down.
