You wish you were a little bit of a blogger, then your bank balance would look taller…

Stop wishing and start doing. Is blogging for me?

Hello, Mark Ford here. I never thought I’d end up being so crazy about blogging that I’ll even make up my own song lyrics. Did you get that? If not, here is the song that a friend’s kid was playing in the background when this blog title came to me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnDmHbIy4mA. At first, I thought, “Are you kidding me, Mark?” and then I said, “Hell no, I’m going to make it my title for this blog.” I had no idea that I had a rapper side to me…

Right, so you might be asking yourself a few questions before you start blogging. Before you get into it or even commit to it, I’m here to give you a reality check. That way, you have an insight into what your blogging world and life would look like if you did want to continue on this path.

If you wish you were a little bit of a blogger,
then your bank balance would look taller,
then you're going to have to like writing for longer...

Writing is not complicated at all, and for you to last as a successful blogger, you’re going to have to write. If you think that you are better at speaking than writing, then blogging is not going to be for you. If you don’t enjoy writing, learning new words and getting your writing skills better while you’re on your journey to becoming a successful blogger, then stop wishing. You’re going to have to start doing or find another medium. If writing isn’t for you, then you have to think about becoming a vlogger or do podcasts.

If you wish you were a little bit of a blogger,
then your bank balance would look taller,
then you're going to have to learn to be a better blogger...

In the blogging world, no one knows everything, and if you have some interesting topics, you’ll find that you need to research more to be able to expand further on them. To become a successful blogger, it does not only depend on you. To deliver value and to back your article up, you will need to share other researchers’ links about the topic or links that support your article and what you’ve delivered.

You will also need to learn to work with guest bloggers and other people affiliated with your niche to add more value or deliver more value. To do this, you will need to enjoy reading too. This means when you’re researching about your topic, you would need to read other people’s blogs, and along with that, you can also see how your style of writing is compared to theirs. The more you read, the more you come across different voices. This helps you to use several sides to your personality through your blogging.

You wish you were a little bit of a blogger, then your bank balance would look taller…
If you wish you were a little bit of a blogger,
then your bank balance would look taller,
then you're going to have to be a better timekeeper...

You’re going to have to be very disciplined and schedule time for researching, writing and publishing your posts. If you currently don’t have time, then you will not reach your goal to be a successful blogger. A successful blogger maintains their blog like their house. They update their posts; they take time to read the comments and see what people are saying. They look for direction in the market, deliver value, they enjoy what they do, and they make more time to do more of what they love to do.

You wish you were a little bit of a blogger, then your bank balance would look taller…
If you wish you were a little bit of a blogger,
then your bank balance would look taller,
then you're going to have to be a self-starter...

Your hunger will tell you how bad you want it and if you want it really bad then keeping the motivation up should be of no problem. You will find that you will bump into the writer’s block, these are the days when you will need to keep going. Whether you’re technical or not there will be hurdle after hurdle after hurdle that you would need to jump. How you stick at it and continue will determine how successful you will be over time. To take the initiative, you will need to be motivated and keep your goal at the forefront. Every time you feel like it gets too much or if you’re beginning to feel demotivated, you must know your why. Being consistent with your schedule, putting your blogs up when you have to, distributing them etc. is not only being consistent in doing but in the learning process too. The more you learn and implement the more value you can give to your followers. Being a self-starter requires organisation skills, consistency, hard work, learning both to better your writing, perseverance and the backend to what is necessary for blogging and syndication and the next point.

If you wish you were a little bit of a blogger,
then your bank balance would look taller,
then you're going to have to be or become a better communicator...

Having your market clear cuts the difficulty with communicating in half, the rest is how you come across in your writing through your voice. It will take perseverance (the not quitting) attitude to find your voice through writing if you’ve just started writing blogs. The more you write, research and read other people’s blog the easier it gets. In one way or another (your readers are gonna find you, and they’re gonna get ya, get ya get, get ya, get ya) Oh! Great now you got me singing the next song… If you don’t know what I’m talking about then have a listen to this song, maybe it will jog your memory https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zBwRDEFMRY. Okay, back to the subject, while you’re blogging, you’re going to be building a community around it, and as much as you’ll have an online world, you will also have an offline world that you’ll end up creating through blogging. The more your business goes forward, the more you’ll have to give speeches, talks, meet people (even through online meetings). Are you ready for the challenge? When meeting people, you will be able to learn more about you and how you are coming across, i.e. are you controlling your ego?

If you wish you were a little bit of a blogger,
then your bank balance would look taller,
then you might find that you're indeed a successful blogger...

Now that you have looked at these points hope you can see your roadmap before you start your blog. You might find that you’re creative if you didn’t know you were. All the best, and I wish you will be a successful blogger, with a bank balance growing taller…
